Bourne Community College welcomed Chidham Primary School for their cycle of the Enthuse STEM project.
Year 5 managed to make tessellation shapes with robots, using loops and button A to instigate the program, they used problem skills to extend their programs making a range of shapes from stars to triangles. This led onto science where the students used separating techniques of filtration and evaporation to create a tessellated crystal sodium chloride, of a cuboid structure. They also got to learn scientific skills and safety within a lab, all of the students got to light a Bunsen burner using a splint. As an extension task students were investigating the flame colours of different chemicals, small salt samples were put into the flame and the students could see the physical colour through the wavelength of burning off the chemicals.
